A summer movie trailer is often loud, action packed, and very revealing.  The third trailer for The Dark Knight Rises has been unleashed, and it has two of the three ingredients, but not in a way that’s expected. There are fast cuts of action shots throughout the trailer, but what really makes this preview work is the music and dialogue.  Both really rely on the eerie and ominous factor to build anticipation in the 2:20 second clip.  The best part is, your still left spellbound with just snippets of new footage, wondering how this movie will actually play out.

The preview really hints that Bruce Wayne will die in the film, and that Joseph Gordon Levitt’s character will take up the mantle of the bat.  That’s exactly why I don’t believe it will happen.  After all, Christopher Nolan is a master at misdirection.  Bane’s voice is alot clearer then the six-minute prologue, and I understood everything he said.  Selina Kyle seems to be teetering between the forces of good and evil but she’s played up as more of an ally to Batman, which lines up nicely with the current comic books. Moments that really hooked me in the trailer include the score reaching that familiar Hans Zimmer Batman tune, and the exchange between Batman and Catwoman. She says: “You don’t owe these people anymore. You’ve given them everything.” He replies, “Not everything, not yet.” Yeah, I got chills.  The last shot of “The Bat” a.k.a. the “Batwing” left me speechless.  July 20th 2012 really needs to hurry up and get here!
