Things continue to fall into place for the first on-screen meeting of the world’s finest superheroes. With the newly minted Batman recently announce the first official filming location for the movie has been announced. “Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie,” director Zack Snyder said in a statement. “Detroit and the entire state of Michigan have been fantastic collaborators, and we are looking forward to working together on this film.” “Warner Bros. Pictures has been approved for $35 million in incentive money for the film, which is projected to generate $131 million worth of in-state expenditures. More than 400 Michigan workers are expected to be hired for the production.” Last month when it was revealed that the “Man of Steel” follow-up would be leaving Vancouver, Toronto was mentioned as a filming location. Even more recently, El Mayimbe of Latino Review suggested that Morocco could also be a filming location.
If the Toronto and Morocco filming locations prove to be correct, then I personally see Detroit standing in for Gotham City, while Toronto would play the role of Metropolis. As for Morocco, the fan in me speculates that it will play host to the location that kryptonite could potentially be discovered. We’ll have to wait to July 17, 2015 to find out. In addition to Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, the film also stars Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams and Diane Lane.
