Rumors have been spreading for a while now that Wonder Woman would appear in some capacity in Batman Vs. Superman. Really, this all started when El-Mayimbe of Latino Review posted a character breakdown for the role of Bruce Wayne’s love interest in the film. That breakdown could easily describe Wonder Woman as well. Chatter intensified this past weekends at Comikaze Expo when “Thor” star Jaimie Alexander (Sif), said she had conversations with Warner Brothers about the film. Well Ms. Alexander has a remarkable resemblance to Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman, don’t you think? Yesterday, the guys over at Schmoes Know flat-out name dropped Wonder Woman and an actress who had tested for the role. “Olga Kurylenko is testing for the Wonder Woman role.” The actress previously starred in “Quantum of Solace” and “Hitman”.
Earlier this evening Variety confirmed the Kurylenko claim and added two additional names to the list. ” Sources tell Variety that “Fast and Furious” actress Gal Gadot, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” thesp Elodie Yung and Olga Kurylenko have or will test for the female lead, which appears to be the role of Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman.” Now it could be that the “love interest” role and Diana Prince are two separate roles but I don’t think that’s the case. Remember how in “The Dark Knight Rises” Miranda Tate turned out to be Talia al Ghul? Yeah, I’m thinking a similar third act twist, different circumstances of course. Naturally, I could be wrong but we’ll see. If Wonder Woman is indeed the woman in question, or does show up in this film, it’ll probably be a little more than an introductory cameo, where she’ll probably be referred to as Diana predominantly.
If that wasn’t enough for you, the aforementioned El-Mayimbe chimed in with a scoop of his own, suggesting that Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing could appear in the film as well! Notice, I said “Nightwing and not “Robin.” For the specific details of that report watch the video below. If Dick Grayson/Nightwing is in the film, I envision him playing a similar role to that of Carrie Kelley in the graphic novel “The Dark Knight Returns.”
We will continue to cover Batman Vs. Superman as news become available, so stay tuned! If any of you develop technology to fast forward to 2015, email me immediately!
