With filming set to begin in February, pieces of the Batman Vs Superman puzzle are slowly starting to fall into place. A mere week ago Gal Gadot was confirmed as our first big screen Wonder Woman! Now sources are telling The Hollywood Reporter that actor “Jason Momoa is in negotiations to join the cast of the untitled Batman-Superman movie being made by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.” Due to the J.J. Abrams/Christopher Nolan secrecy approach Warner Brothers is employing on this project, it’s hard to know if the actor is playing a villain or hero.
If Mr. Momoa is on the side of evil in the film, the school of thought is he will play Doomsday. Doomsday, in case you didn’t know, is a “Kryptonian scientifically engineered into an intergalactic killing machine. Doomsday famously “killed” Superman in the comics, which became a media event in 1992. The character’s existence is even hinted in the extras of the Man of Steel Blu-ray.” The Doomsday idea has been put forth by El-Mayimbe of Latino – Review and Hollywood producer Daniel Alter. Every tidbit they’ve dropped regarding this film has come to pass. That coupled with the aforementioned Doomsday tease on the Blu-Ray, as well as countless references to S.T.A.R. Labs…Often times, where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
If Jason Momoa plays a hero alongside DC Comics’ famous Trinity then he will likely play J’onn J’onzz aka The Martian Manhunter. Like Superman, the character is an alien. The sole survivor of the planet Mars, who is a member of the Justice League and has an affinity for Oreo cookies.
If Jason Momoa plays Doomsday, I’d be thrilled! If he plays Martian Manhunter, then I believe Warner Brothers will eventually officially announce this as a Justice League film once it starts filming. Either way, I’d be happy! For those who worry that this film may be getting over-crowded, consider this; The X-Men franchise and The Avengers had the potential to be overcrowded. They never were because of how the filmmakers handled those films, and that will be the key here as well.
