Batman V Superman - Dawn of Justice

A couple of months ago, soy photos surfaced online featuring actress Jena Malone (Sucker Punch) on the Detroit set of “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice”, with director Zack Snyder. Some played this off as nothing more than the actress visiting her friend and former director.  Fans jumped to the conclusion that she would play Carrie Kelley aka Robin. For those who don’t know, she “is a female Robin appearing in the alternate universe of The Dark Knight Returns. During The Dark Knight Strikes Again she becomes Catgirl. Her parents, although living, are aging stoner hippies who do not pay a lot of attention to their daughter. She is the successor to Jason Todd. Carrie Kelley was created by Frank Miller

These rumblings died down until an extra working on the film, was interviewed on a local Detroit news broadcast, under anonymity of course, and revealed that Robin is not only in the film, but was indeed female. Adding more fuel to this fire is the fact that Jena Malone is now sporting red hair, like the character of Carrie Kelley in the comic books. The Hollywood Reporter has done their own investigation into the matter, and their sources confirm that Jena Malone has been cast in the film.  However, her role is being closely guarded. It’s worth noting that the characters of Batgirl and Batwoman are characters with red hair. So Jena Malone could be playing one of those characters. However, with the film taking its cues from “The Dark Knight Returns, and the extra risking a lawsuit of $5 million for breach of the NDA to reveal the presence of a female Robin, it’s safe to assume that Jena Malone is indeed playing Carrie Kelley. If this is the case, consider me 100% behind the inclusion of the character and the casting.
