It seems that whenever Warner Brothers announces casting for the follow-up film to “Man of Steel”, tentatively being called “Batman Vs Superman”, I’m in the middle of binge comic book reading, trying to play catch up with my pull-list. That was exactly the case when Variety reported that; “After testing actors over the past couple weeks, Warner Bros. and D.C. have tapped theater actor Ray Fisher for the role of Cyborg in the untitled Batman-Superman pic.” The site goes on to say that, “Victor Stone or ‘Cyborg,’ while not a major part in the Batman-Superman feature, is a member of the Justice League and will become a much more significant role as Warner and D.C. develop more films related to the Justice League universe, sources confirm.” Despite the last quote, I’m sure thousands of crazed fanboys have leaped for their electronic device, jumped on a message boards to write this; “NOOOOO…This film is overcrowded, there’s too many heroes! Why don’t you just call it “Justice League!” This is gonna suck!” If you’re one of those people, stop reading and listen, this song is for you;
Also, if you’re one of these people, and you liked the Captain America sequel, congratulations….You’re a hypocrite! Why you ask? Well, because you’re complaining that “Batman Vs. Superman” has too many characters and should be called Justice League, but you thought “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” was great! I hate to break it to you, but that film had, Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon, Nick Fury, and Bucky Barnes. Somehow, that worked out very well, Oh, and it wasn’t titled Avengers 2 either! It’s not necessarily how many characters, but rather how they’re handled, written, and how much screen time each one is allotted. I don’t know, but having Academy Award Winning Screen Writer Chris Terrio, and director Zack Snyder, who has handled films with many characters (300, Watchmen), I’m excited and confident to see this expansion of the DC Universe on film.
